Good Faith Estimate

Information for clients who do not have insurance or who are not using insurance

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

• You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.

• Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.

• If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.

• Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

How This Applies to Clients of The Broken Crayon Initiative, PLLC

As of January 1, 2022, federal laws regulating client care were updated to include the “No Surprises” Act. Under the law, healthcare providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services called a “Good Faith Estimate” (GFE) explaining how much your medical care will cost.

This new regulation is designed to provide transparency to patients regarding their expected medical expenses and to protect them from surprises when they receive their medical bills. It allows patients to understand how much their health care will cost before they receive services.

There are factors that exist that make providing an estimate of how long it make take a client to conclude therapeutic services challenging. This answer is dependent upon the client as an individual and the goal that is the target of therapy. Also to be considered is the frequency of visits, the time it takes to develop the therapeutic relationship, identify your treatment goals and implement a course of action, and your level of satisfaction with your progress. Some clients may find adequate relief by the reduction of their symptoms and may determine additional services are not required or may come less frequently or on an as needed basis. Other clients may decide it is beneficial to their well-being to continue for a longer period of time. Ultimately it is you, the client, who decides when you are ready to stop therapeutic services. Whatever your needs are, we will work together to help you achieve your therapeutic goal and, no matter how many sessions you need, you can be assured that the rates of the The Broken Crayon Initiative, PLLC will never change without prior notification. Whatever your number of sessions will be, we will work together to meet your needs.
